For every course participant who opts out of printed materials, EXAA contributes €20 per module to the protection of forest in Argentina's Gran Chaco. Our partner is Arkadia, which keeps 1,144 hectares of dry forest there under protection. €20 keeps 100 square metres protected for one year; at 100 modules a year, that is one hectare.
How it works
- Select "digital materials" instead of the printed version when you register.
- EXAA transfers €20 per module to Arkadia - the money directly funds on-site management and monitoring.
- Four times a year, Arkadia publishes a report with satellite time series and species list, so you can see what happens to the land.
Why the Gran Chaco?
The Gran Chaco is South America's second-largest forest after the Amazon and one of its most threatened. The World Economic Forum calls it a "hidden biome": more than 100 million hectares across Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia and Brazil, home to 3,400 plant species, 500 bird species and over 200 reptile and amphibian species. Over the past two decades the region has lost 13 million hectares of forest, mostly to soy and cattle.
Arkadia protects forest that is already standing, at Finca Las Ramaditas in Salta Province. The land is under contract and monitored on the ground and by satellite. Arkadia does not sell carbon credits or offsets, but concrete, georeferenced forest with evidence. EXAA has been a partner since May 2026.
